Did you ever ponder in our dry country, how fish can suddenly appear in previously dry waterholes even when not connected by overland flood flow.
As soon as replenishment rains arrive to fill isolated holes, so do the fish life.
Fish cannot live underground and are unable to walk over the dry ground.
They don't hitch a lift in the tourist traffic or catch public transport.
Only option left to consider is they take to the air, either by birds or flying fish.
A chance observation makes one think the last option is actually a reality.
"The Flying Fish in the Sky"
My mind was a trifle driftin I suggest.
As me and doggies walked long the track.
The ground all around us, full to the seams.
The word ‘soaked’, seems to suit the best.
My eyes looked high into the eastern sky.
Spied some floatin cloud scapes up above.
I saw a flying fish, I thought that what it was.
Perhaps there is a possibility that fish can fly.
I mean how do fish travel from pond to pond ?
They cannot swim on the ground of dry dirt.
Totally devoid of legs to move around the place.
Perhaps they really fly to waterholes way beyond.
