Turned up at “Strathmore” and asked could he stay.
Would be good at caretaking, just to pay his way.
Place to stay and work out his rent, back in eighty four.
“Muddy” was his name, joined by “Shadow” on the floor.
A seed was sown, a mutual bond that was bound to grow.
Into something special far more than they all would know.
As with us all, there came the time as the years took hold.
When Muddy needed extra care found in the Kaloma fold.
His Henwood family spared no effort to repay the debt.
For their friend, a place for Muddy and his Shadow pet.
Before too long they became Kaloma’s celebrated team.
They were a pair inseparable whenever they were seen.
Now Muddy is back at Strathmore, lives in the pool shack.
Shadow lying deep below, near the woolshed out the back
As they were in life and now in peace both together near.
To resume their caretaking duties for each coming year.
