In Memory of the Show Tin Bar

A lost relic of our rural history in many a country show.

Of Muddy Tin Show Bars & Climate Change 20-4-19

When on the land always reliable of a day rained.

Annual Gdi show a secure sowing date remained.

Season change indicator of the May sowing rain.

Sticky ground under feet = light fall.

Ankle deep in mud = improving.

Foot ware dispensed = real promise.

Difficulty standing = real sowing rain

The venue was the showground tin shed.

Closed Shutters signalled time was dead.

Your money sat on the wooden bar.

Completely safe, wouldn’t go too far.

Volunteers knew what was in the shout.

Who hadn’t paid, who tried to miss out.

People patiently waiting four deep round.

Drinkers history before dollars, all in pounds.

No need to worry about one punch concrete.

If you did find yourself knocked off your feet.

Cause If by chance there was a minor brawl.

The magic mud just cushioned any head fall.

The modern day place is brand new and flash.

Sitting and waiting for your hard earned cash.

Atmosphere stark and feels so clinically clean.

Festooned with signs, you know what I mean.

Lost connection with nature soil turned into mud.

Could be why May show sowing rain is now a dud.

Now our water seems to have forgotten how to flow.

Next years AGM I suggest to give the shed another go.
