AWAY FROM THE URBAN PETTY SQUABLES OF THE INSIDE COUNTRY
YOU TEND TO MEET PEOPLE WHO ARE THE CORE OF WHAT THEY ARE:

Wayne 12-04-2023
A chap I met just loves this dry land.
Way out west where sandhills stand.
One has to live it to totally understand.
Then you too know, the vision isn’t bland.
Flowers on hills overlook a scene so grand.
Looking over ‘Bulloo’ swamp overflow.
I can quite understand his passion so.
The more you live it, the more it grows.
Morning sun start of day, bright night glow.
Complete the picture as the energies flow.
This was not Wayne’s natural working plan.
A Shearer, Cook and Muso in a family band.
Had a Pub, Cricket open bat, complete the span.
So many parts of the multi skillset of this man.
Then fate turned his energies turned to the land.
Decked in black hat with BJ dog and the odd smoke.
Travels miles on water points, fixing things that broke.
Repair fence damage made by running sheep and goats.
All the while yearning for learning, not the kind to ‘bignote’
To be sure Wayne Holland, he is a genuine working bloke.
When comes the time to go beyond his allotted time on earth.
Wayne will have given with passion with all that is his worth.
T’will not be in the ‘inside country’ where he made his birth.
Wants to stay forever on an overarching hill in this western turf.
A place and district just wide and free, it has no restraining girth.
